NIXON PARK

Public BBQ

This expansive green space strikes that sweet spot between active recreation and family relaxation. The BBQ facilities anchor a well-designed layout that keeps everyone entertained - kids can burn off energy on the playground while parents fire up a feed. The recently added shade sails provide much-needed relief from Queensland's unforgiving midday sun, addressing what was previously a genuine hazard for young ones. The basketball court draws older kids and fitness enthusiasts, though seasoned players might find the dimensions a touch cramped. Workout equipment scattered throughout caters to the health-conscious, while vast open areas accommodate everything from impromptu cricket matches to bird-watching sessions - the established trees host an impressive variety of local species. Practical amenities hit the mark: clean, well-maintained toilets (including disabled access), functioning water fountains, and plenty of bins keep the space tidy.
